Cisco Systems and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have selected TekSynap, an SBA certified 8(a) firm known for its expertise in wired and wireless networking, to upgrade the Cisco Network Control System (NCS), also known as Cisco PRIME, to the latest version. TekSynap’s upgrade will double the capacity of the existing NCS to support up to 20 Mobility Services Engine (MSE) High Availability (HA) pairs concurrently, and support HA failover on the MSE device in the event of a MSE failure. The upgrade will also deliver enhanced database support, IPv6 support, and support for emerging FIPS validated code versions for controllers and access points.

The contract is the latest win for TekSynap’s industry leading wireless services practice, recognized for its understanding, knowledge, and capability to modernize VA network infrastructure to support its service delivery mission, deliver innovative capabilities such as Real Time Location Based Services (RTLS), and enable privacy-protected electronic exchange of personal, health, and economic data.

The win builds upon a 5-year partnership between the VA and TekSynap, during which the company has engineered and deployed national wireless and location based services to 188 VA locations in all four VA regions, as well as providing architectural and testing support to VistA modernization efforts and programming services for the VA’s ICD-10 conversion.

“TekSynap is proud to be an essential partner to the VA as the Department works to leverage the potential of information technology to continuously improve telehealth services, health-related virtual modalities, data analytics, and anytime, anyplace, any device accessibility,” stated Kamran Jinnah, TekSynap’s Chief Executive Officer. “This opportunity builds upon an enduring, productive partnership, while helping the VA to better serve our nation’s Veterans.”
